The Childrens Center, a non-profit agency, is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young children, one family at a time. Our mission is to nurture and educate children and their families. We provide opportunities for education, parenting support and resources to families in our communities.

The Childrens Center Head Start/Early Head Start is a federally funded program that provides no cost services to qualifying families who reside in the community. Comprehensive services are provided to pregnant women and their partners and children from birth to 5. Child development, health and family services are provided through a variety of program options designed to meet the needs of low-income and at-risk families.

About the Job:

The Children's Center is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our teaching team! Our preschool program builds the solid academic foundation students need for future success. In our school, classes are led by a dedicated, caring team of teachers who value open communication with parents. Our preschool offers the perfect balance of learning and play, combining structured learning experiences with play activities designed for each developmental stage.

Our Therapists...

  • Provides therapy services for speech, language, fluency, voice, hearing and feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Assists in evaluations of clients and in the recommendation of services.
  • Works with families to develop goals for the child.
  • Works with the child in his/her natural environment in harmony with the childs daily routine.
  • Communicate directly with parents to build healthy partnerships that promote the child's success and healthy development.
  • Stay dedicated to our mission in order to build an educational foundation for each child to grow cognitively, emotionally, and physically each day.

We are most interested in applicants who…

  • Have 1-3 years of experience and knowledge of speech therapy and practices.
  • Have CPR/First Aid training
  • Flexibility with work hours and scheduling
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Masters degree in speech-language pathology, preferred.
  • A speech language pathologists must be licensed. Licensure requirements include clinical experience and passing the licensure exam.
  • Knowledge of speech therapy principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of speech and language assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of agency and accreditation guidelines.
  • Knowledge of program reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of therapy guidelines including Virginia rehabilitation regulations, federal and state law and Part C guidelines.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in the assessment of needs and in the delivery of therapy services.
