Seeking a Fire Protection Engineer/Designer to design, coordinate, and potentially project manage fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role combines technical design work with hands-on field engagement you'll create finished system designs using AutoSprink and AutoCAD, then follow that work into the field to review conditions and troubleshoot installation conflicts alongside project teams.
This is a schedule- and deadline-driven position. We're looking for someone resilient enough to contribute from day one, while still curious enough to keep learning someone who asks questions rather than guesses, adapts well to changing project conditions, meets deadlines under pressure, and takes mistakes as opportunities to improve.
What You'll Do
Design fire suppression systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam systems
Prepare detailed shop drawings field installation drawings and hydraulic calculations
Provide field engineering support, including jobsite review and installation planning
Compile and prepare plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review
Prepare project material stock lists to support procurement
Produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD and AutoSprink
Perform hydraulic calculations
Build and maintain positive, ongoing customer relationships to ensure expectations are consistently met
Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving to assess construction feasibility and system design options
Review construction contract documents and coordinate with subcontractors, general contractors, and owners to gather the information needed to design each project's sprinkler system
Travel to construction jobsites as needed
Maintain a general understanding of job costs related to engineering, materials, fabrication, and labor
Conduct self-directed research on NFPA standards and building codes
What You Bring
A degree in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
Experience with AutoSprink strongly preferred
NICET certification a plus
Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and AutoCAD preferred
High level of self-discipline and motivation
Strong work ethic and a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
Ability to manage a demanding schedule and consistently meet deadlines
