Role Overview
The Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller with responsibilities supporting the organization’s finance and accounting teams. Key focuses for this position include assisting with overseeing day-to-day accounting functions including financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, auditing, and process improvements. This position sits at Ceco’s corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepares schedules, reconciliations, and documentation for use in multiple sales tax filings.
- Researches and communicates sales tax matters to company stakeholders.
- Works with regionally based managers to obtain and renew required state and municipal business licenses.
- Manages new vendor setup and maintenance requests.
- Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts along with other month-end closing activities.
- Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Accounting bachelor’s degree or related field and five years of related work experience. Knowledge of construction industry concepts and practices strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with the ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and relevant accounting software experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar accounting/ERP system.
