AWS Compliance & Security Assurance is looking for an experienced Sr. Compliance Specialist to develop and oversee our Global Product Compliance (GTPC) team strategy for a broad range of regulatory compliance matters. You will interact with AWS Security, Datacenter Engineering, AWS Services, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Tax, and other internal businesses and external stakeholders to drive operation policies and controls that provides oversight of AWS"s product compliance posture. AWS is at the forefront of providing a broad set of global cloud-based services including compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, deep Machine learning, robotics, and enterprise applications, to help organizations move faster, lower IT costs, and scale.

This is a dynamic business within Amazon.com, and one of the world"s fastest growing and evolving companies, with a team of exceptionally talented, bright and driven people. GTPC is responsible for ensuring that the infrastructure equipment necessary to support the AWS services are imported/exported in a compliant manner across the multiple countries where AWS operates and will expand.

Key job responsibilities

Own end-to-end governance controls, SOPs, and policy frameworks across Regulatory Operations - regulatory research, intelligence management, agency engagement, change monitoring, records management, and compliance auditing. Each control traces to a defined risk with measurable effectiveness criteria and built-in feedback loops driving continuous improvement.

Define and execute a scalable regulatory research methodology at country and product level across all target markets. Build a regulatory intelligence system with intake workflows, data quality standards, and refresh cadences that reduce market-access cycle time and eliminate regulatory surprises late in development.

Operationalize engagement protocols and stakeholder maps for government contacts across all jurisdictions. Own global regulatory change monitoring; maintain impact assessment frameworks quantifying risk to market access, timelines, and cost - shifting the organization from reactive to proactive compliance posture.

Enforce records retention controls satisfying post-deployment audit requirements. Build audit checklists, sampling methodologies, and reporting templates delivering consistent execution regardless of jurisdiction - systems that function at bar when not in the room.

Synthesize compliance data and regulatory intelligence to surface emerging risks before they materialize. Maintain readiness dashboards with leading indicators and deliver insights translating regulatory complexity into business-impact language - enabling leadership trade-off decisions on timeline, cost, and market scope.

A day in the life

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Product Compliance Operations (GTPC), this role opens lanes for AWS to ship hardware into new and existing markets - faster. Own the regulatory intelligence engine that gets ahead of requirements before they hit critical path. Build regulator relationships that accelerate approvals and unlock early visibility into emerging rules. Monitor global shifts, translate complexity into clear go/no-go calls, and arm leadership with insights to make confident expansion decisions. Maintain audit-ready documentation that keeps markets open post-launch. This isn"t traditional compliance - it"s market access. You clear the path so AWS can scale.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
