Job Description
A California-based biotech organization is seeking a Sr. Contracts Manager to support its R&D contracting efforts.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: Standard business hours
- Setting: Hybrid (at least 3 days a week onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, redline, and negotiate Clinical Trial Agreements and other R&D-related contracts
- Manage contract intake, drafting, review, and execution workflows
- Partner with internal stakeholders across clinical, research, regulatory, procurement, finance, and legal teams
- Assess contractual risk and provide practical recommendations to support business objectives
- Support continuous improvement of contracting processes and templates
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of recent contracts experience; or, a Juris Doctorate with 2+ years of related experience
- Direct experience drafting, reviewing, redlining, and negotiating Clinical Trial Agreements
- Hands-on contract negotiation experience with counterparties
- Experience managing contract drafting and contract review
- Experience supporting R&D, clinical development, clinical operations, pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO, or clinical research organizations
- Ability to independently assess contractual risk and provide practical recommendations
Desired Skills:
- JD (Juris Doctor)
- Biotechnology industry experience
- Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management systems
- Agiloft experience
- Global contracting experience across EU, UK, or APAC regions
- Experience negotiating CDAs, MSAs, SOWs, MTAs, DUAs, and IIS agreements
