Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Operations, the Senior Director, Clinical Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for clinical operational areas and the oncology service line. This role helps to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-centric care delivery while also driving continuous performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and clinical integration across hospitals, ambulatory sites, and affiliated entities and provides operational support and financial management. This role works in a multidisciplinary team in directing and facilitating short and long-term planning; program and project development; control and monitoring project scheduling and implementation; implementing financial controls and reporting budget variances. The Sr. Director assists in enhancing the efficient operations to ensure high quality, cost-effective and compassionate patient-centered care in all oncology outpatient areas and implements strategic initiatives in alignment with the Hospital's strategic initiatives and goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies, tactics, goals, timelines and metrics that support quality improvement, patient safety, service excellence, and financial performance.
  • Direct and oversee daily clinical operations across outpatient oncology service line departments to ensure alignment with WMCHealth's mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Partners with various departments including operations, administration, clinical leadership, nursing and ancillary teams to optimize care delivery models and streamline workflows. Applies strong concentration to patient experience, quality and operational efficiency while maintaining collaborative relationships with all departments and multidisciplinary team members. Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, efficiency, patient outcomes, and staff satisfaction. Oversee and coordinate all performance improvement projects and activities.
  • Represents SVP/VP on hospital-wide strategic and financial initiatives. Implements, tracks outcomes, and reports on these initiatives. Provides and ensures proper coordination and alignment with goals and objectives.
  • Lead budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation for designated areas to ensure efficient use of clinical and operational resources. Prepares departmental operating and capital budgets and monitors departmental expenditures to assure departments' operations are within budget. Ensures execution of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient.
  • Helps facilitate integration efforts between hospitals, ambulatory practices, and post-acute services as part of system-wide initiatives. Leads projects as assigned. Tracks the status of project work plans, resources and deliverables for individual projects and as appropriate, rolls up project information for overall program coordination, reporting and communication.
  • Manages teams within designated areas and all hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures. Provides mentorship and develops a high-performing team of clinical managers and other staff members to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
  • Serves as a liaison between executive leadership, operational teams, and clinical teams to ensure effective communication and execution of strategic priorities.
  • Develops and articulates a short-term strategic vision for areas of responsibility. Develops and presents status reports and presentations to senior leadership regularly and is responsible for the development of business plans and capital projects.Assess profitability, alignment with business objectives and budget parameters while providing financial and administrative oversight and problem resolution guidance, which develops and oversees operational, personnel and capital budgets.
  • Monitors and evaluates impact of regulatory requirements on current business performance; analyzes regulatory requirements and develops cohesive, integrated strategies and action plans to meet mandates.
  • Oversees claiming, billing, and invoicing processes and ensures timely and accurate financial transactions among providers;[SF1] oversees current and future needs assessments of equipment, systems and software to ensure optimal service outcomes.
  • Builds and maintains productive inter/intra-departmental and vendor work relationships to optimize operations; partners with the leadership team to optimize home health model/ offerings with organizational care management endeavors.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

  • 8+ years of leadership experience in clinical operations within a hospital, health system, or large ambulatory care setting.
  • Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and improving operational outcomes, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
  • Experience with regulatory standards, clinical compliance, and healthcare operations best practices.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. Master's degree in Healthcare Administration , Nursing, Business, or Public Health strongly preferred. If hired as a Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse must have current New York State license.

Licenses / Certifications:

required only if a Physician Assistant or Registered Nurse must have a current New York State license.
