Senior Financial Analyst

Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing annual budgets, monthly financial reports, developing forecasting procedures, and creating and managing cyclical and special reports with accuracy and timeliness. This position functions at a more complex level while supporting the Director with both scheduled and non-routine reporting functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a consultative resource to ensure effective analysis of departmental issues.
  • Collaborate with management and department leaders to prepare and assemble operating budgets.
  • Prepare divisional budgets, including:
    • Depreciation
    • Fringe Benefits
    • Insurance
    • Third Party Allowances
    • Bad Debt
    • Charity Care
    • Interest Expense
    • Investment Income
  • Review and analyze monthly departmental budget reports by comparing actual results to budget and explaining variances with department managers.
  • Prepare written and oral presentations of financial results using both written and graphical formats.
  • Develop and review monthly flex budget results.
  • Maintain and analyze the organization's rolling forecast.
  • Partner with departmental leadership to identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
  • Produce monthly statistical reports and KPI reporting.
  • Create, develop, prepare, and analyze financial, operational, and quality reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field plus 4+ years of experience performing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.

OR

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field plus 2+ years of experience performing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of clinical and operational departments within an acute care environment.
  • Understanding of budget and forecast drivers.
  • Knowledge of advanced accounting and financial practices and procedures.
  • Strong quantitative and critical reasoning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • SQL knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical, operational problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills.
  • Positive, flexible, and collaborative work style.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

Physical Requirements

  • Visual acuity to read computer screens, forms, and printed materials.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person and by telephone.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, and prolonged sitting.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
