General Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing the entire General Accounting Department and the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in a manner consistent with Company policies and procedures.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Oversee accounting close activities including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, inventory accounting, fuel accounting, fixed assets, cash, stock-based compensation, investments and various other accounts to ensure a timely and accurate financial close.
Manage the timely and accurate completion of all balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure the financial statements are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Oversee the preparation of select internal and external reports, ensuring they are adequately reviewed and accurately stated.
Perform impairment analyses for equity method affiliates and property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) as required by GAAP.
Manage accounting for foreign transactions, including financial statement translation and foreign currency transactions to ensure they are properly accounted for.
Ensure requests from internal and external auditors are promptly responded to and all Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) requirements completed, to ensure the accuracy of the financial deadlines and timely filings.
Provide leadership to ensure that internal customers are provided with consistently excellent service and participate in cross functional process improvement initiatives.
Guide and mentor managers and staff to ensure staff development and departmental efficiency.
Recommend and implement process improvements and best practices to facilitate an efficient process.
Research, analysis and other technical support to ensure transactions are recorded in a timely manner and in compliance with GAAP.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Master's in Business Administration (MBA) a plus
Work Experience
Minimum 10 years' progressive experience in a combination of public accounting and corporate accounting organizations with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a managerial capacity
Experience leading, coaching and developing staff and teams
Large enterprise system experience (Oracle e1 experience a plus)
Construction industry experience a plus

Solid technical accounting skills and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

Able to break down problems into meaningful parts and come to rational and well-thought out conclusions
Advanced computer skills required (Excel, Word, Microsoft Office suite, large enterprise systems, etc.)

Team player, with strong leadership skills, who can operate effectively within a matrix management environment
Sound decision making ability with the experience to balance consensus against authority as appropriate
Excellent consultative and communication skills and ability to interface effectively with all levels within the organization
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges
Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
Advanced written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information

Base Salary Range:
$146,948.00 - $220,424.00
Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
