Sr Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

Vega Federal Solutions is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Richardson, Texas, to design, deploy, and secure cloud and hybrid infrastructure supporting a national security mission. This is a direct-hire position and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Vega Federal Solutions is a St. Louis-based Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in geospatial intelligence, secure automation, and national security software. You will work in a multi-discipline team where collaboration and clear communication matter as much as technical skill.

Position Details

Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Richardson, Texas

Employment type: Direct hire, full-time

Security clearance: Active TS/SCI (U.S. citizenship required)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience

Salary range $165,000 – $200,000 per year, based on experience

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Helm

• Build, operate, and secure containerized environments on EKS, EKS Auto Mode, and Kubernetes

• Configure and integrate resources across cloud and on-premises deployments

• Harden Linux systems and automate configuration management using Chef, Ansible, and scripting

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with integrated security practices

• Integrate COTS and FOSS technologies into secure environments

• Collaborate with a multi-discipline team of engineers, analysts, and mission stakeholders

• Document designs and communicate status clearly, in writing and verbally

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance

• CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certification, required at start of employment

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience

• Good collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team environment

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a multi-discipline environment

Technical Skills

• Experience deploying cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Helm

• Experience with containerized environments: EKS, EKS Auto Mode, and Kubernetes

• Understanding of cloud vs. on-premises deployments and configuring resources across both

• Proficiency in Linux, Chef, system hardening, scripting, automation, integration, AWS, and Ansible

Preferred Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of servers, networking, storage, and virtualization

• AWS architecture and integration experience

• DevSecOps experience with integrated security practices

• Experience with cloud metrics and logging dashboards (Grafana, Prometheus, Promtail, Loki)

• Strong Linux troubleshooting and automation scripting (Python, Bash)

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, GitLab, Artifactory, Helm)

• Experience integrating COTS and FOSS technologies in secure environments
