    Primary Responsibilities:

    The Credit Risk Senior Manager manages the company's credit risk portfolio. This role executes credit policies, manages day-to-day credit limit decisions, applies risk-based pricing frameworks, and monitors portfolio diversification controls to balance revenue growth with acceptable financial exposure in addition to partnering with commercial and finance teams to ensure credit operations align with business objectives and ensures escalating strategic matters to leadership.     Essential Functions:

    DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage the company's credit risk portfolio across 5,000+ active customer accounts, maintaining credit limits, processing approvals, and ensuring consistent application of decisioning standards.
    • Monitor portfolio health and concentration risk through early warning indicators, financial statement reviews, and credit risk scorecards/dashboards (PD, EL, LGD, EAD), reporting findings and mitigation strategies to leadership.
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly portfolio performance reports and lead credit committee preparation, including analyses, materials development, and documentation of outcomes.
    • Partner with Commercial/Sales, Operations, and Collections teams to support revenue growth while managing credit exposure — including credit limit guidance, new business onboarding, non-standard credit arrangements, order holds/releases, and collection prioritization.
    • Maintain documentation of credit decisions and exception approvals, support annual policy refreshes, ensure compliance with internal controls and reserve adequacy standards.
    • Drive automation of credit decisioning workflows and platform configurations (system-based scoring, automated holds/releases, notifications), identifying technology solutions to streamline operations and improve data quality.
    • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, accountability, and continuous improvement across the credit function.
    • Other duties and projects as assigned.

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

    • Proven ability to partner with commercial teams to balance growth objectives with risk management.
    • Strong proficiency in data analysis, financial modeling, and credit scoring methodologies.
    • Demonstrated ability to conduct portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis.
    • Strong communication skills both verbally and written with the ability to communicate to all levels in an organization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
    • Strong presentation and analytical skills.
    • Ability to manage and lead a team.
    • Working knowledge of financial statement analysis (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) to assess customer creditworthiness.
    • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to structure credit terms, payment plans, and security arrangements in partnership with stakeholders.
    • Understanding of how credit decisions impact working capital and cash flow.
    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in credit risk management, commercial credit, or financial risk.
    • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role overseeing credit analysts or collections teams.
    • Experience managing credit risk in a B2B environment with a large, diverse customer base across multiple risk profiles.
    • Experience in food distribution, CPG, or wholesale industries, including managing credit risk for independent/alternative channel customers (independent grocers, co-ops, small chains, startups) preferred.
    • Experience with trade credit insurance programs, insurability assessments, and ERP/credit management platforms with automated suspension/hold capabilities preferred.
