Sr. Manager Supply Chain - SOM

Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine (KPSOM) provides leadership and oversight of end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, contract development and administration, distribution, inventory management, and supplier management. This role leads the supply chain team in applying industry best practices and ensures that all functions are executed in a transparent, compliant, and efficient manner, supporting the schools academic, research, and administrative priorities in alignment with KPSOMs values, policies, and enterprise standards. The Senior Manager facilitates business reviews and drives the implementation of initiatives to streamline systems, improve performance, and advance a future-state supply chain model. This role emphasizes strong relationship management and strategic partnership with Kaiser Permanente, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and driving collaborative outcomes.

In close partnership with KPSOM internal customers and external partners, the Senior Manager drives operational excellence, ensures regulatory compliance, and advances integrated supply chain strategies that enhance service delivery and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Develops and leads KPSOM supply chain strategies that align with organizational goals, Kaiser Permanente sourcing standards, ensuring scalability, operational efficiency, and long-term operational needs.
• Ensures high-quality customer service delivery by improving the resolution of issues and serving as a key escalation point for complex customer concerns.
• Oversees daily supply chain operations across procurement, sourcing, logistics, inventory, and service delivery to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant support for school operations.
• Leads the end-to-end contracting process, including intake, scope definition, business term review, stakeholder approvals, status tracking, implementation support, and renewals in accordance with organizational policies and delegated authority.
• Manages supplier and contract performance by monitoring service expectations, performance metrics, documentation standards, compliance requirements, and vendor accountability.
• Drives operational performance by resolving escalations, streamlining workflows, improving procurement processes, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and strengthening service level performance.
• Ensures purchasing practices align with Kaiser Permanentes national sourcing strategy, optimizes purchase request processes, supports standardized procurement strategies, reduces costs, safeguards assets, and uses KP Sourcing service level agreements and budget planning to organize work and improve performance across the school.
• Leads and develops a high-performing team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, training, resource planning, accountability, and succession planning.
• Promotes talent development and succession planning, sets performance expectations across teams, and empowers staff to make decisions and resolve escalations effectively.
• Provides analysis and reporting on utilization, quality, cost, customer satisfaction, and operational performance metrics to inform supply chain decisions and continuous improvement priorities.
• Coordinates data collection integrates results across projects, and prepares actionable insights for leadership, stakeholders, and operational partners.
• Leverages Kaiser Permanente National supply chain services resources and enterprise partnerships to support procurement, sourcing, contract coordination, and supply chain service delivery for the school.
• Builds and maintains strategic relationships with Kaiser Permanente, KPSOM departments, operational leaders, and external partners to align supply chain services with school priorities.
• Partners with internal customers to assess business needs, clarify service expectations, and align supply chain solutions with budgetary, compliance, and operational requirements.
• Partners with legal, compliance, finance, and operational stakeholders to align contract terms, service expectations, risk protections, compliance monitoring, and vendor performance with business and departmental needs.
• Build strong vendor partnerships and negotiate contracts that support long-term value, quality, and service excellence.
• Implement risk management frameworks, internal controls, and contingency plans to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of operations.
• Regularly evaluates supplier performance, market conditions, and operational vulnerabilities to anticipate and address potential issues before they impact service delivery.
