Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, Reman

Tesla's Energy Remanufacturing team is looking for a skilled Sr. Manufacturing Engineer. This team is developing brand new processes for remanufacturing energy products across the globe. The right engineer for this position is able to handle responsibility of concept, design, build, and ramp of automated manufacturing equipment. The selected candidate assumes full ownership of the tool including design, commissioning, process development and technical transfer of the tools to the operation team. The Sr. Manufacturing Equipment Engineer works closely within a cross-functional organization and tool vendors to tactfully develop manufacturing equipment on tight deadlines.

• Prepare overall machine design concepts for special purpose equipment and systems
• Own projects through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept generation through assembly and production bring-up
• Integrate machine interactions with the plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
• Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart
• Troubleshoot, iterate, and solve challenging electrical and mechanical issues during launch of new equipment
• Detail machine design of custom automated tooling, fixtures, mechanisms, robotic end of arm tooling
• Conduct design reviews for internal team feedback and for cross-functional presentations
• Validate equipment performance and reliability. Create comprehensive equipment handover packages and system documentation
• Define and oversee Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) for Solar Energy manufacturing equipment
• Optimize product flow and line efficiency by designing or improving tools, jigs, stations, work methods and ergonomics using 5S methodology
• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics engineering, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in ramping equipment into manufacturing, including automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanical systems, and motion controls
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (assembly, fastening, dispensing, laser welding, electrical testing)
• Strong problem-solving ability to address complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
• Extensive Proficiency with 3D (SolidWorks, 3Dx, Catia) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD) platforms
• Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
• Working knowledge of data analysis, statistics, SPC
• Experience developing operating and maintenance instructions and training operators
• Able to travel 10% of the ti

Expected Compensation

• Manufacturing Engineer - $98,640 - $147,960/annual salary

• Sr Manufacturing Engineer - $117,360 - $176,040/annual salary

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
