Sr PKI Engineer

Location: 100% remote - client based in South Florida

Role Overview

An enterprise organization is seeking a Sr. PKI Engineer to implement, operate, and maintain Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) services across a global environment. This position involves implementing software security controls, developing automation scripts and APIs, and supporting cloud infrastructure for Application Security services. The successful candidate will collaborate virtually with development and operations teams globally to advance a security culture that safeguards organizational and customer interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise PKI and certificate management services.
• Support certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, and recovery processes.
• Implement and automate governance processes and controls to streamline certificate management activities for software development teams.
• Coordinate Certificate Authority (CA) lifecycle activities, including renewals, migrations, and key ceremonies.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of certificate policies, standards, and operating procedures.
• Provide escalation support for high-level certificate chain problems, extension types, and architectural design issues.
• Configure out-of-the-box integrations and implement automation platforms to optimize operations.

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field of study.

Experience: Five or more years of professional experience in information security, with a strong background in operating, building, and altering PKI and Certificate Lifecycle Management platforms.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with Certificate Lifecycle Management systems such as Venafi, CyberArk, or Sectigo. Strong scripting capabilities in Python, PowerShell, or Bash. Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS), and experience with underlying infrastructure, server administration, and command-line troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with migration projects and standing up net-new PKI systems.
• Previous experience implementing security automation platforms and out-of-the-box integrations.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Work Environment

This is a remote position that requires collaborating with global teams and guiding development groups in security best practices. Candidates must possess strong organizational skills, time management abilities, and the capacity to meet deadlines in a professional manner.
