Tesla's Industrial Products team is looking for a Senior Product Manager to own utility-scale solar powerplants. You will work closely with hardware, software, and commercial teams across Tesla to shape product requirements, build competitive offerings, and serve as the primary product voice. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role sitting at the intersection of power electronics, grid infrastructure, and energy storage.
Define the product strategy and roadmap
Develop deep understanding of utility solar power plant requirements and translate those into product specifications
Partner with hardware engineering teams to define system-level requirements, performance targets, and integration specifications for utility-scale solar power electronics
Collaborate with energy storage product teams to design and optimize co-located solar-plus-storage configurations, including AC and DC coupling strategies
Work with Sales, Applications Engineering, and Business Development to create competitive product positioning, application guides, and technical proposals
Monitor global grid code evolution, regulatory requirements, and utility interconnection standards and define product roadmap responses
Build and maintain technoeconomic models to quantify solar system value - including energy yield analysis, curtailment and clipping impacts, and revenue stacking for co-located storage
Engage directly with utility developers, independent power producers, and EPC partners to gather requirements and validate product direction
Develop technical documentation, product datasheets, application guides, and specifications for solar energy system offerings
Track the competitive landscape and support business development and commercial teams on RFPs, technical proposals, and key account engagements
5+ years of experience in the utility-scale solar industry - with direct exposure to solar power plant design, system engineering, product development, or operations
Deep understanding of utility solar power plant systems, including central and string inverters, DC collection, AC substations, plant-level controls, and SCADA; familiarity with module technology and tracker systems a plus
Experience with solar-plus-storage system design and the technical and commercial trade-offs of co-located and AC-coupled battery storage
Familiarity with interconnection processes - including POI requirements for large solar and storage assets
Understanding of US tax policy impacts on project economics, including ITC/PTC structures and domestic content requirements
Background in product management, applications engineering, or technical business development at a solar OEM, developer, EPC, or independent power producer
Strong analytical skills - comfortable with technoeconomic modeling and presenting results clearly to customers and leadership
Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to drive alignment across engineering, sales, and commercial teams
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Believes in a world run on sustainable energy
