The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the successful governance and delivery of large-scale, complex, and strategically critical initiatives operating within a hybrid delivery framework that integrates predictive (Waterfall) and adaptive (Agile) methodologies. This role provides enterprise-level leadership across cross-functional teams, ensuring disciplined planning, incremental value realization, financial stewardship, and risk mitigation. The Senior Project Manager operates with significant autonomy, influences senior stakeholders, and ensures initiatives align to strategic objectives, investment priorities, and measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Delivery Leadership

  • Lead large, multi-workstream initiatives spanning business, technology, operations, and third-party vendors.
  • Determine and tailor the appropriate hybrid delivery approach based on scope, risk, regulatory requirements, and organizational readiness.
  • Integrate stage-gate governance with iterative development cycles and release-based value delivery.
  • Manage interdependencies across Agile teams and traditional project workstreams.

Strategic Planning & Governance

  • Develop and maintain executive-level charters, integrated master schedules, roadmaps, financial models, and governance artifacts.
  • Ensure alignment between business case, strategic objectives, and realized outcomes.
  • Drive governance reviews, investment checkpoints, and executive steering committee engagements.
  • Provide clear escalation pathways and decision framing for senior leadership.
  • Validate initiative investment assumptions and ensure alignment between business case financial models, expected ROI, & realized enterprise value.

Agile & Incremental Value Oversight

  • Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, and delivery leads to ensure backlog alignment with strategic intent.
  • Oversee release planning, milestone integration, and cross-team dependency management.
  • Monitor performance metrics including velocity trends, burn-down/burn-up, release predictability, and value realization.
  • Ensure alignment between iterative outputs and long-term architectural or operational objectives.

Financial & Resource Accountability

  • Own initiative-level budget planning, forecasting, capital/expense tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure disciplined financial controls and alignment to approved investment models.
  • Optimize resource allocation across matrixed teams and vendor partners.
  • Negotiate scope, cost, and delivery commitments with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor financial performance against approved investment models and ensure initiatives remain aligned with projected ROI, cost savings, revenue impact, or operational efficiency targets.

Risk, Issue & Change Management

  • Proactively identify enterprise-level risks and systemic dependencies.
  • Lead structured issue resolution and decision forums.
  • Govern scope management and change control processes to protect strategic outcomes.
  • Ensure regulatory, compliance, and quality standards are met where applicable.

Executive Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as primary delivery authority for executive sponsors and steering committees.
  • Translate complex delivery metrics into clear business impact narratives.
  • Influence senior leaders to resolve competing priorities and resource conflicts.
  • Foster alignment across business units and delivery organizations.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide direction and oversight to Project Managers, Scrum Masters, and cross-functional leads.
  • Coach teams on hybrid delivery best practices and governance expectations.
  • Promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to enterprise PMO maturity and standards development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • PMP required.
  • Agile certification (e.g., CSM, SAFe Agilist, PMI-ACP) preferred.

Preferred

  • 8-12+ years of progressive project/program management experience.
  • Experience in Dental, Medical, Healthcare or retail industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Proven experience operating within hybrid delivery models.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and cross-functional resource models.
  • Experience engaging executive-level stakeholders and governance forums.

  • Ability to draw valid conclusions; apply sound judgment in making decisions and make decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • High skill level in customer service.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with management and all levels of staff.
  • Maintain an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, as well as State, Federal and other regulatory bodies.

Compensation Information

$130,000.00-$168,000.00 / Annually
