Sr. Project Manager Power Delivery Engineering

We have an opportunity for a talented & ambitious Sr. Project Manager with Power Delivery Engineering experience to join our growing Overhead (OH) Transmission Group.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the engineering execution of complex Transmission and Substation projects from project initiation through issued-for-construction (IFC) design, while supporting procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout activities. The Senior Project Manager serves as the primary client interface during engineering execution and provides leadership for multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering critical utility infrastructure projects.

This role requires demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects, leading large matrixed teams, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support successful project execution. The Senior Project Manager is expected to provide strategic project leadership, mentor project team members, support business development efforts, and contribute to the growth of Power and Utilities services.

Responsibilities

Engineering Project Management

• Lead engineering execution for complex transmission and substation projects from initiation through construction support.
• Develop and manage project scope, engineering schedules, budgets, resource plans, deliverable matrices, and execution strategies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams including transmission line, substation physical, protection & controls, civil, structural, environmental, geotechnical, and telecommunications disciplines.
• Direct engineering activities to ensure quality, consistency, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
• Establish project priorities and provide technical and project leadership to engineering teams.
• Lead interdisciplinary coordination meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
• Monitor project performance, engineering productivity, critical path activities, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Client Management

• Serve as the primary client point of contact for engineering execution.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Lead project status meetings, executive reviews, and stakeholder engagements.
• Communicate project progress, schedule, budget status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Resolve project issues and coordinate stakeholder alignment throughout project execution.
• Ensure exceptional client service and client satisfaction.

Engineering Support for Procurement & Construction

• Coordinate engineering support for procurement activities, including material specifications, equipment requisitions, technical evaluations, and supplier reviews.
• Support development of procurement packages for major equipment and materials.
• Lead engineering coordination with construction management teams to facilitate construction readiness.
• Provide oversight of engineering support during construction, commissioning, startup, and energization activities.
• Respond to RFIs, field change requests, and technical inquiries.

Project Controls & Risk Management

• Manage engineering project budgets, forecasting, resource loading, and schedule performance.
• Monitor project metrics, critical path schedules, and engineering productivity.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Support change management processes and evaluate impacts to scope, schedule, and budget.
• Develop project analyses and performance reporting for leadership and clients.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure engineering deliverables meet client requirements, company procedures, and industry standards.
• Lead design quality reviews and interdisciplinary coordination checks.
• Support implementation of quality management processes and corrective actions.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable utility standards, national codes, environmental requirements, and permitting conditions.
• Promote safety throughout project planning and engineering execution activities.

Business Development & Strategic Growth

• Support project pursuits, proposal development, fee estimation, and scope development.
• Participate in client presentations, interviews, and contract negotiations.
• Identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
• Support strategic account growth initiatives and expansion of transmission and substation services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in transmission, substation, power delivery, utility, or infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience serving as the primary client interface for complex engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of utility engineering design, construction support, project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and common collaboration platforms (e.g., Teams, SharePoint)

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
• Master''s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
• Experience supporting EPC delivery models for utility infrastructure projects.
• Experience with investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, renewable developers, or regional transmission organizations.
• Demonstrated success developing client relationships and supporting business development initiatives.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Additional compensation will include performance-based bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package covering medical, dental, PTO, 401(k), unlimited FTO (Flexible Time Off) and professional development opportunities.
