Sr. Python & Java Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a professional to design and implement secure and scalable card and payment processing services using python java and aws to support high volume transactions and consistent customer experiences. The successful candidate will also develop and optimize microservices and application components that enable real time authorization settlement and reconciliation while meeting strict performance and reliability targets. Strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to translate requirements into effective delivery are important for success in this position.

In This Role, You Will

• Design and implement secure and scalable card and payment processing services using Python Java and AWS to support high volume transactions and consistent customer experiences.
• Develop and optimize microservices and application components that enable real time authorization settlement and reconciliation while meeting strict performance and reliability targets.
• Collaborate with product managers architects and domain experts to refine functional and non functional requirements for card and payment features and translate them into clear technical designs.
• Integrate applications with internal and external payment gateways card networks and fraud management systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high coding standards reusable components and robust design patterns across Python and Java services.
• Implement automated testing strategies including unit integration and end to end tests to ensure high-quality releases and reduce production incidents in card and payment platforms.
• Configure and maintain AWS based infrastructure such as compute storage and databases to achieve resilient cost efficient and observable environments for payment applications.
• Monitor production systems using logging metrics and alerts to proactively detect performance bottlenecks and service degradation and drive timely remediation actions.
• Work closely with operations and support teams to analyze incident trends in card and payment services and implement sustainable fixes that enhance platform stability and customer trust.
• Document system architectures service interfaces and deployment procedures to enable clear knowledge sharing and smoother onboarding for engineering and operations teams.
• Participate in hybrid model collaboration ceremonies including design discussions and sprint events to ensure alignment on delivery priorities and technical decisions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging tools and practices in Python Java and AWS that can strengthen card and payment capabilities and reduce operational overhead.
• Ensure that all solutions uphold data privacy security controls and regulatory requirements within the cards and payments domain to protect customers and the organization.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered

• Apply deep expertise in Python to build performant backend services scripts and data processing components tailored for card and payment workflows.
• Use solid Java experience to maintain and enhance core transaction engines APIs and integration layers that handle large scale card and payment operations.
• Leverage strong AWS skills to design cloud native architectures including appropriate use of compute storage network and managed services for payment platforms.
• Demonstrate proven experience in cards and payments domain including understanding of transaction lifecycles settlement chargeback and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Employ sound software engineering practices such as version control code review continuous integration and deployment to deliver maintainable and reliable systems.
• Communicate effectively with cross functional teams sharing domain insights technical considerations and operational impacts to support informed decision making.
• Adapt to hybrid work arrangements by using collaboration tools and clear documentation to maintain productivity and engagement across onsite and remote settings.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $120,000 - $140,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
