Sr. Security Engineer, Threat Detection and Response

Our client, a leading online travel and hospitality marketplace, is looking to hire a Senior Security Engineer, Threat Detection and Response, in a 100% remote role (United States).

Pay Rate Range: $115–$137/hr, depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Investigate security incidents end to end, using digital forensics and data analytics to determine scope, impact and root cause
• Hunt for threats across corporate and production environments to proactively identify anomalous activity
• Build detection logic, anomaly-detection models and response automation to identify and contain threats at scale
• Identify gaps in logging and visibility, and partner with engineering teams to close them
• Work with Legal, Privacy and Engineering partners on complex, large-scale investigations and response
• Drive root cause analysis after incidents and recommend fixes that eliminate entire classes of issues
• Mentor other team members and lead through influence during high-pressure, ambiguous incidents

Requirements:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, including incident response, digital forensics, threat hunting and/or detection engineering
• Proficiency in Python (or a similar scripting language) and working knowledge of SQL; Pandas experience is a plus
• Solid understanding of networking and security fundamentals
• Experience building anomaly-detection or behavior-based detections
• Experience automating security detection and response
• Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK and Cyber Kill Chain frameworks
• Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) preferred
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch preferred
• Ability to stay calm and work collaboratively in high-stress incident situations
• Candidates will complete a proctored technical assessment as part of the interview process
