Senior Sonographer - PRN (Cardiac & Vascular)
Location: San Antonio, TX 78229 (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $64.00/hour
Contract Duration: 6 months
Schedule: Approximately 4 hours per day on Saturdays and Sundays (day shift). Additional weekday daytime hours may be required for approximately 2 months to provide coverage during an employee leave.
Job Summary
The Senior Sonographer performs advanced diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations for research participants. This role requires independent operation of sonography equipment, accurate image acquisition, and clear communication of diagnostic and research findings to physicians and research teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and guidelines
- Analyze, synthesize, and communicate diagnostic and research findings to physicians
- Generate preliminary reports to support diagnostic interpretation
- Collaborate with cardiology staff to assist in diagnosing complex congenital and acquired heart conditions, including pediatric cases
- Train, mentor, and support junior sonographers on procedures and best practices
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality throughout all procedures
- Support research initiatives by collecting data and participating in study-related activities
- Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality and data protection standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s Degree in a related field (required)
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in echocardiography and vascular sonography (required)
Certifications
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS or CCI) (required)

- Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
- Advanced understanding of sonography practices, procedures, and equipment
