p>Department/Business Unit Functions: • Provides communication to patient for instructions and history in order to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical safety and psychological needs of the patient during procedures • Positions patients to best demonstrate anatomical areas of interest as requested, respecting patients' ability, comfort and safety • Checks to ask about pregnancy and LMP • Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical and radiation sources • Provides practical instruction, evaluation and precepting for students and/or other healthcare professionals • Assumes responsibility for assigned areas, quality control of equipment and reports equipment malfunction • Assures environment of working area, equipment and accessories are kept neat and clean • Initiates anecdotal, incident, contrast agent variance and accident reports in a timely manner • Performs related duties such as transporting patients, film processing and film filing as needed • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively • Maintains safe environment • Addresses patient population-specific needs. General Functions: • Produces high quality diagnostic radiographs, by selecting and operating appropriate radiographic equipment, and advanced diagnostic procedures • Practices aseptic techniques as necessary, understands methods of venipuncture and other sterile techniques, in agreement with state statues and/or where institutional policy permits, prepares, identifies and/or administers contrast media as prescribed by a licensed practitioner • Rotates through advanced areas of diagnostic radiology to include procedures in arthrography • Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and procedure is recorded • Assists practitioner with fluoroscopy, arthrography.
