Sr System Safety Engineer

Position Title: Sr System Safety Engineer

Position Description: Protingent Staffing has an exciting contract Sr System Safety Engineer opportunity located in Remote (US)

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Senior Subject Matter Expert on MIL-STD-882 System Safety Engineering
• Coach and teach MIL-STD-882 practices to the engineering team
• Advise on tailoring MIL-STD-882 to fit how the team does business
• Review and sanity-check customer requests and requirements, and help ensure delivered products support them
• Provide objective assessments of the team’s current situation and approach
• Engage in open, productive dialogue with the team and offer practical, honest guidance
• Support system safety and reliability activities as needed on an on-call, part-time basis

Job Qualifications:

• Senior-level expertise in MIL-STD-882 System Safety Engineering
• Experience in system safety and reliability engineering
• Ideally an engineering background with hands-on engineering experience in aerospace/defense
• Proven ability to tailor MIL-STD-882 to a program or organization
• Strong communication skills, with experience coaching and teaching others
• Ability to give objective, candid assessments and work collaboratively
• DO-178 experience is a plus
