About the Sr. Tax Advisor Opportunity

Creative Financial Staffing (CFS) is partnering with a well-established CPA firm in Novi to identify an experienced Sr. Tax Advisor with a strong background in individual taxation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Tax Advisor who enjoys complex tax work, reviewing returns, working directly with clients, and providing thoughtful tax guidance—without the expectation of managing a large team or pursuing a traditional partner-track career.

The firm is open to both full-time and seasonal Sr. Tax Advisor candidates, providing flexibility based on your career goals and preferred schedule.

What You'll Do

As a Sr. Tax Advisor, you will serve as a technical resource for individual taxation and play an important role in ensuring clients receive accurate, high-quality tax guidance.

• Review individual income tax returns, primarily Form 1040, including complex filings

• Review returns involving investments, K-1s, pass-through entities, multi-state taxation, and other complex issues

• Identify errors, potential risks, and opportunities for tax savings

• Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to preparers and help improve overall return quality

  
  
• 
  

• Work directly with clients to answer questions and explain tax positions in an understandable way

• Participate in individual tax planning and advisory conversations

  
  
• 
  

• Manage your workflow effectively and meet important deadlines during tax season

• Utilize CCH Axcess and other tax technology to work efficiently and accurately

What We're Looking For

The ideal Sr. Tax Advisor will bring strong technical knowledge of individual taxation along with the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and other members of the tax team.

• 7+ years of public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on individual taxation

  
  
• 
  

• Proven experience reviewing Form 1040 returns, not simply preparing them

  
  
• 
  

• Strong technical knowledge of complex individual tax returns

  
  
• 
  

• Experience with investments, K-1s, multi-state returns, and pass-through taxation

  
  
• 
  

• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

  
  
• 
  

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients

  
  
• 
  

• Comfortable working with modern tax software; CCH Axcess experience is preferred

  
  
• 
  

Preferred Qualifications

• 
  

• CPA, EA, or other relevant tax credential

• Experience with individual tax planning

  
  
• 
  

• Exposure to financial planning or advisory concepts

  
  
• 
  

• Previous experience functioning as a Sr. Tax Advisor, Senior Tax Accountant, Tax Manager, or similar senior-level tax professional
