Title:STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Reports to:Accounting Manager

Location: Lehigh Valley Area, PA

FLSA status:Exempt -Full Time


POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant maintains accurate financial records and supports the company's period-end close, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and compliance activities. The position applies accounting principles and sound judgment to analyze transactions, resolve discrepancies, maintain supporting schedules, and help ensure the integrity of the general ledger.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, allocations, and adjusting entries, in support of monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reconciliations of bank, balance sheet, intercompany, and other assigned accounts; research and resolve reconciling items.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and established internal controls.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, account analyses, and management reports and assist with preparation of periodic financial statements.
  • Support fixed-asset accounting, including additions, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and related reconciliations.
  • Review and support accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash, and other transaction cycles, as assigned.
  • Assist with multi-entity and intercompany accounting, including reconciliation and elimination support.
  • Prepare documentation and schedules for external audits, tax filings, and other compliance requests.
  • Evaluate account activity, identify unusual items or trends, and communicate findings and recommended corrections to management.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve close, reconciliation, reporting, and other accounting processes; assist with ERP and automation initiatives.
  • Provide cross-functional accounting support and perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience in public accounting or private industry preferred.
  • Experience supporting period-end close in a multi-entity, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and complex formulas.
  • Experience with an ERP or accounting system; NetSuite or Deacom experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a high level of integrity and discretion.
