Client Overview:
Our client is a leading, well-established construction subcontractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional markets. As a large and growing organization, the company partners with some of the region's top general contractors and developers, providing specialized construction services on complex projects. They are currently looking to add a Staff Accountant to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$60,000 - $75,000

Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will support the organization's day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, and supporting financial reporting and compliance efforts. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively across departments.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Perform daily cash reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Administer credit card expense reporting, vendor setup, and customer account maintenance.
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns and maintain business registrations.
  • Support audits, financial reporting, and compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and assist with special projects as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
  • Accounting experience within the construction industry or a related field.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, SL, or Dynamics.
  • Familiarity with construction accounting software, including Procore or Viewpoint.
  • Experience with financial analysis, audits, and tax compliance activities.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
