Job Description

Staff Accountant

This role is ideal for an accountant who enjoys being hands-on, taking ownership of the accounting process, and serving as a key financial resource for assigned business entities.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, team-oriented environment where you'll have visibility into the business, interact with leadership, and play a meaningful role in delivering accurate financial information and analysis.

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting activities for assigned entities, including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and intercompany accounting. This individual will function as a trusted accounting partner, providing financial insight, variance explanations, and ownership over the accuracy of the financials.

Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries
  • Complete hands-on balance sheet reconciliations and research reconciling items
  • Analyze account activity and investigate fluctuations or unusual transactions
  • Prepare variance analyses and provide meaningful commentary on financial results
  • Manage intercompany transactions and related reconciliations
  • Support accounting activities across multiple entities
  • Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting activities
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for audits and financial reviews
  • Process and analyze high-volume accounting transactions
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure compliance with accounting policies
  • Partner with operational leaders to better understand business activity and financial results
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Approximately 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and GAAP principles
  • Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Experience working in a multi-entity accounting environment
  • Intercompany accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
  • ERP system experience

Preferred

  • Great Plains experience
  • Exposure to cash flow forecasting
  • Experience preparing financial analysis and variance commentary
  • Experience supporting audit requests and financial reporting processes

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Personally performs reconciliations rather than simply reviewing them
  • Understands the accounting behind the numbers and can explain financial activity
  • Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and follows issues through resolution
  • Is proactive, curious, and eager to learn the business
  • Communicates effectively with both accounting and operational stakeholders
  • Thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
  • Is comfortable working in a more manual accounting setting
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and accountability

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This role offers the chance to move beyond transactional accounting and become a true business partner. The individual hired will have ownership of their assigned entities and will be expected to provide meaningful financial insight, explain variances, and contribute to informed business decisions. It's an excellent opportunity for an accountant who wants to develop into a well-rounded finance professional while remaining hands-on in the accounting function.
