We are in search of a Staff Accountant for our Columbus, Ohio facility. This position will be responsible for general accounting, financial closing and reporting, payroll, fixed assets and other various accounting functions. The position will work with the organization at all levels to gather information, produce various reports and ensure compliance with all corporate financial reporting requirements. This position is targeted for development within our organization and the ideal candidate will keep climbing the financial ladder with the finance department.
Qualifications:
The staff accountant must possess outstanding analytical skills, strong communication skills (both oral and written), proven problem-solving capability, good understanding of GAAP with Sarbanes-Oxley and Strong computer skills including MS Office products. ADP and Oracle experience is a plus.
Experience:
Must possess a desire to advance your career into higher business management positions. Strong desire to take initiative on projects, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously. Efficient work flow processing with attention to detail.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting with 1-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment. MBA or CPA is a plus.
Specific Responsibilities:
Process semi-monthly payroll and preparation of related reports and remittances
Assist with monthly close procedures, including:
o Preparing standard and general journal entries
o Monitoring monthly and year-to-date activity versus budget
o Performing fluctuation analysis and inquiring of any variances
Assist with quarter and year-end financial closings
Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of particular balance sheet accounts
Preparation of Fixed Asset, depreciation, lease schedules and overall maintenance of the FAS system
Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
Insure compliance with GAAP and SOX
Work closely and effectively with multiple levels of the organization
Calculation of sales tax returns and submission of related payments.
Set-up and initiate ACH payments to vendors
Assist in coordination of semi-annual physical inventory counts
Actively participate in special projects, as assigned
