Staff Accountant

Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense & space OEMs / Primes & Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in high-tolerance, complex geometry parts; machined out of standard and exotic metals. Primus works directly with all major aerospace manufacturers (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop) to provide components to mission critical civilian and defense programs.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and supporting financial reporting and analysis activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments including operations, purchasing, inventory, and production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial statement preparation.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, cycle count reconciliation, and manufacturing cost tracking.
  • Analyze variances related to production, labor, overhead, and inventory.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets.
  • Assist with audits, and compliance reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives
  • Support FP&A activities, executive management dashboard reporting, and Board of Directors (BOD) financial reporting
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field).
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred, preferably in a manufacturing environment or bookkeeping or internship experience
  • Understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems
  • Knowledge of inventory, standard costing, or manufacturing accounting is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
