Staff Accountant | Mansfield, Ohio | $75,000–$85,000 | Direct Hire

The Professional Division of Spherion Mid Ohio is partnered with an established organization in Richland County, Ohio, seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing accounting team and offering a salary of up to $85K annually.

This is a well-rounded accounting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to work closely with senior financial leadership. The Staff Accountant will support general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and daily cash reporting across multiple departments and related entities.

Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday
  • Full time and fully onsite in Mansfield, Ohio
  • Generally 9am to 5pm during training
  • Some schedule flexibility may be available once fully trained

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and prepaid expense reconciliations
  • Review account activity and research discrepancies or unusual transactions
  • Assist with preliminary monthly financial statement preparation
  • Support the month end close process
  • Code and process accounts payable invoices
  • Communicate with vendors regarding invoice questions and discrepancies
  • Prepare check and electronic payment information for approval
  • Post incoming payments and support accounts receivable activity
  • Assist with billing responsibilities as needed
  • Prepare and maintain daily cash reporting
  • Support accounting activity for multiple departments and related entities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Cross-train on additional accounting functions to provide departmental coverage
What We're Looking For
  • 3–5 years of well-rounded accounting experience preferred
  • Candidates with less than 3 years of experience may be considered when they have strong, hands-on internship experience across multiple accounting functions
  • Internship experience should include broader accounting exposure beyond primarily audit work, such as general ledger accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or financial statement preparation
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month end close support
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable experience
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs or similar functions
  • Experience using QuickBooks, Sage, or another accounting or ERP system
  • Ability to learn new systems and accounting processes
  • Experience supporting multiple departments or business entities is helpful
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred but not required with strong, relevant experience
