Join one of the nation’s largest and most innovative housing authorities. We are seeking a Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets, Reconciliations & Utility Analysis to join its dynamic team. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records related to fixed assets, performing high-volume bank reconciliations, and conducting detailed utility analysis. Operating in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, the role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, audit preparedness, and upholding CMHA’s core values of Respect, Accuracy, Timeliness, Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, Initiative, Creativity, Quality, Value, and Professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, calculate depreciation, and support RAD-related transfers and audits.
  • Lead bank account reconciliations using ADRA, initiate transfers/wires, and support financial reporting and year-end close processes.
  • Manage utility tracking, billing accuracy, and vendor account reconciliation.
  • Prepare audit schedules and collaborate with internal teams and external auditors.
  • Document procedures and support cross-training efforts.
 
Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP/GASB and financial systems (e.g., YARDI).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience (including 2 years in reconciliation) or 10+ years in full-cycle accounting roles.
