Staff Accountant

A growing insurance organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting the month-end close process, preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process
• Complete balance sheet and account reconciliations
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Support expense accounting and accrual processes
• Analyze financial results and investigate variances
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Assist with audits and regulatory reporting requests
• Partner with internal teams to ensure financial data is complete and accurate
• Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 1-4 years of accounting experience within an insurance company
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
• Experience preparing journal entries and reconciliations
• Familiarity with statutory accounting principles is a plus
• Strong Excel skills and experience working within an ERP system
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments

Preferred Background

• Property & Casualty, Life & Annuities, Health Insurance, Reinsurance, MGA, or Insurtech experience
• Exposure to statutory and/or GAAP reporting
• Progress toward CPA designation is a plus
