About the Role:
Calkins Hehl Rafko, CPAs, PLLC is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join their team in Monroe, MI. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns
  • Perform audit, review, and compilation procedures for governmental and nonprofit entities
  • Prepare financial statements and related disclosures
  • Maintain accurate and organized client records and workpapers
  • Communicate with clients to gather financial data and resolve accounting inquiries
  • Stay current with changes in tax law, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of public accounting or staff accountant experience preferred
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax principles, and financial reporting
  • CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused, professional demeanor
