Job Description

Careerscape is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing organization seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant to join their finance team on a full-time, remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting while working alongside experienced finance leaders who are invested in mentoring new talent.

Day to day, you will spend your time processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and helping close the books each month, with plenty of guidance from senior accountants and the controller. The role suits someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable learning new systems quickly, and eager to grow their technical accounting skills in a supportive, remote-first environment where accuracy and curiosity are valued just as much as experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and post journal entries under supervision
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Help maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Assist in preparing basic financial reports and schedules
  • Respond to routine internal requests for financial data
  • Support internal and external audit requests as needed
  • Identify and help resolve discrepancies in account balances
  • Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Up to one year of accounting experience or relevant internship
  • Basic understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas and pivot tables
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and take direction from senior team members

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Remote-friendly work equipment stipend
  • Flexible remote work schedule
  • Professional development and CPA exam support
  • Employee assistance program
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Collaborative and mentorship-driven team culture
