Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant - Prepare and post general ledger entries and support month-end close activities
- The Staff Accountant will perform account reconciliations and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness
- Run and analyze general ledger reports and financial activity
- Prepare grant and contract billing, including cost reimbursement invoicing
- Assemble payroll and expense detail for monthly invoices submitted to funding sources
- The Staff Accountant will review financial information with Program Directors prior to invoice submission
- Support quarterly spend-down reviews and grant compliance tracking
- Partner with Program Managers regarding budgeting projections, spending activity, compliance matters, and audit support
- Assist with audit preparation and supporting documentation
- The Staff Accountant will provide support to the accounting team and assist with AP oversight as needed
Qualifications of the Staff Accountant Role - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or grant-funded environments
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Grant billing or contract invoicing experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of general ledger activity and account analysis
- Intermediate Excel skills required, including IF formulas, XLOOKUPs, and pivot tables
