Staff Accountant

We are a professional staffing firm, working with organizations across the country to place exceptional candidates. Currently, we have an Staff Accountant opportunity with an established well known credit union in San Diego, CA.

The Staff Accountant isresponsible for the specific duties listed below.

Your specific duties will include:

• Perform daily balancing of significant general ledger accounts, including branch cash and coin, ATM cash GLs, client GLs, transfer clearing GLs, and GL exceptions.
• Research and resolve out-of-balance issues, discrepancies, incorrect entries, and other reconciling items.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for all assigned general ledgers.
• Research and resolve stale-dated items within established timeframe guidelines for each general ledger account.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve stale-dated items and operational variances.

Required qualifications for the position include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (two years of equivalent experience may substitute for each year of education).
• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger reconciliations, month-end closing processes, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred qualifications for the position include:

• A minimum of one year of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a financial institution.
• Experience with Symitar core banking software.

Pay Rate Range: $30.00 - $35.00 an hour

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and location. Employees have access to healthcare benefits, including medical, dental, and vision as well as a 401(k) plan.
