Staff Accountant

VENTEON and HARVARD RESOURCE SOLUTIONS are hiring a STAFF ACCOUNTANT to provide support in Southfield, MI. You will support the Accounting team in completing month end close activities along with other general accounting tasks under the direction of the Controller.

POSITION TYPE: Full time. Direct Hire. Hybrid (In office 3 days per week). PAY: $75,000 to $80,000 annual based on education and years of experience.

Requirements of the Accountant: 

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• 3-4 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role.

• Proven experience preparing, posting, and reconciling journal entries.

• Able to support banking, billing, and payroll operations. 

• Experience supporting monthly reporting packages.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial work.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel ( pivots, Lookup, formulas, conditional and logical functions) is required. Skills with Power Query or Power BI are highly desirable.

Duties of the Accountant

• Responsible for the month end close process by posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, researching variances, recording supporting schedules. 

• Recording of all bank transactions (except customer payments). Reconcile bank to GL.

• Generate monthly customer invoices by pulling information out of large data sets using Excel / Power Query functions and using an ERP system.

• Produce monthly data needed to file sale tax returns.

• Calculate individual monthly commissions due by performing a specific set of complex calculations.

• Support the Payroll Process by auditing payroll data prior to cutting checks. Posting payroll entries into the accounting system.

• Assist in preparing and reviewing the complete monthly financial reporting package. Researching variances.
