Requirements & Benefits

  • Education: B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance (120+ credit hours).
  • Experience: 2-3 years in non-profit, grant-funded, or public accounting.
  • Certification: Actively pursuing a CPA, CMA, CFE, or CISA.
  • Skills: Advanced Excel; ERP software (Sage Intacct/NetSuite) preferred.
  • Perks: $65k-$78k; hybrid (2 days/wk in DC); up to 11% 401k match; top-tier healthcare & generous PTO.

Responsibilities

Federal AP/AR (50%)
  • Process invoices, verify approvals/coding, and execute ACH/electronic payments.
  • Monitor grant expenditures for allowability under Uniform Guidance; maintain precise audit trails.
  • Manage vendor files, collecting W-9s, contracts, and proof of insurance.
  • Ensure vendor setups comply with internal controls and OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Record and reconcile incoming payments, grant reimbursements, and donor contributions.
  • Prepare and submit invoices to funding agencies based on contract and grant requirements.
  • Process and record federal award drawdowns, ensuring compliance with cash management rules.
GL & Month-End Close (25%)

  • Prepare, post, and adjust daily, monthly, and year-end closing journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Investigate, track, and correct accounting discrepancies and variances promptly.
Audit & Compliance (25%)

  • Compile and issue annual Form 1099-NEC/MISC to vendors in compliance with IRS rules.
  • Provide accurate schedules, reports, and grant-related reconciliations to auditors.
  • Assist with annual audits, single audits, and external financial reviews.
  • Ensure all accounting records strictly comply with U.S. GAAP, IRS, DOL, and OMB regulations.
  • Monitor updates in tax laws, accounting standards, and grant compliance requirements.
