Staff Attorney

Salary: $80,000 - $88,000 annually

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Attorney to provide civil legal advice and representation to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. This position plays a critical role in helping survivors obtain legal protections and address family and housing matters that impact their safety and long-term stability.

Primary Responsibilities

• Represent clients in protective order, custody, divorce, and housing matters.
• Prepare pleadings and appear at court hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
• Provide legal counsel and advocacy to clients throughout the legal process.
• Coordinate with advocates on safety planning and client support services.
• Maintain accurate case files, legal records, and grant documentation.
• Participate in community outreach, public education, and legal awareness initiatives.
• Collaborate with community partners and service providers to support client needs.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Louisiana law license in good standing.
• 1-3 years of legal experience preferred.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload while maintaining attention to detail.
• Experience in family law, civil legal services, and/or work with survivors of violence is preferred.
• Commitment to serving vulnerable populations with compassion and professionalism.

Compensation & Work Arrangement

• Annual salary: $80,000 - $88,000
