Position Overview
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, therapeutic, and appropriate preparation and dispensing of medications. The pharmacist ensures compliance with applicable laws, accreditation standards, health-system policies, and pharmacy best practices while making independent clinical decisions and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
Process and verify medication orders accurately and efficiently.
Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications according to pharmacy standards.
Assess medication orders and make clinical interventions when appropriate.
Provide medication counseling, patient education, immunizations, and other clinical services as assigned.
Maintain accurate pharmacy records and complete quality-assurance activities.
Lead and direct pharmacy technicians, support staff, students, and interns.
Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety, and confidentiality requirements.
Safely manage controlled and non-controlled medications.
Utilize pharmacy information and healthcare IT systems effectively.
Maintain competency in assigned pharmacy practice areas.
Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program.
PharmD or qualifying pharmacy degree.
Current, active Ohio Pharmacist License.
Ability to work variable shifts.
Strong clinical judgment and medication-safety skills.
Effective communication and collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals.
Certification: Immunization certification may be required depending on the assigned pharmacy area.
