Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Patient Relations:1. Obtains complete medical history from patient, and/or family, and/or previous medicalrecord, etc.2. Educates the patient and family member on the patient's diagnoses' and treatment optionswithin scope of knowledge and authority.3. Coaches and supports the patient in self-management of their health.4. Teaches and counsels patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner.Staff Relations/Team Building:1. Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team as necessary andfacilitates communication between all members of the health care team.2. Promotes the Team-based Care Model by participating in daily huddles and Patient CenteredMedical Home (PCMH) bi-weekly team meetings to communicate and collaborate on patientissues and needs.3. Performs other necessary duties as required by the JHC to meet the goal of providing primaryhealth care services.Clinical Duties:1. Provides primary medical care by caring for all patients in accordance with the physiciansmedical specialty.2. Assesses, diagnoses, implements treatment, evaluates and monitors patients health status.3. Performs complete physical examinations on patients.4. Utilizes center selected evidence based, care practice guidelines when managing chronicconditions and counseling patients on health care self-management.5. Diagnoses acute and chronic illness on the basis of clinical findings, laboratory and x-rayreports and/or the results of other diagnostic procedures according to approved protocols.6. Collaborates, initiates, and monitors agreed upon treatment plans with patients assigned tothe Staff Physician, using protocols and/or consultation with a consulting physician.7. Refers patients requiring hospitalization or assessment and management of conditions toemergency department physicians or appropriate specialists.8. Renders emergency care and treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, starting IVfluids, and ordering of appropriate emergency medications. Sutures lacerations and addressesacute orthopedic injury with splinting if within provider's scope of care.9. Physical attendance is an essential element of the job and necessary to perform the essentialfunctions of the Staff Physician position.Administrative Duties :1. Reviews other providers' notes as per the "Chart Review Policy" of the JHC.2. Maintains all patient records to comply with required standards, reviews records regularlyand obtains physician counter signatures where necessary.3. Manages time to preserve a patient-focused, team-based approach for rendering optimalhealth care.Performance Improvement Activities:1. Attends all medical staff meetings and participates in the JHC QI program.Safety/Infection Control Activities:1. Attends all mandatory OSHA infection control seminars, and follows general OSHAguidelines for infection control, including "Universal Precautions."2. Abides by all JHC infection control policies, including acute response measures in the settingof a public health concern or disease outbreak.Competencies:1. Proficient in collaborating with patients using a team-based approach to health caremanagement.Other Functions:1. Abide by the Code of conduct as documented in the Corporate Compliance Manual.2. Must demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to JHC and its mission.3. Graduation from an accredited medical school with a degree in Doctor of Medicine orOsteopathy.2. Completion of an approved residency program in his/her medical specialty.3. License to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.4. The ability to relate effectiveness to the patients and staff. Must be qualified in Basic LifeSupport techniques.Physical Demand and Working Environment:Sedentary work requiring lifting and/or exerting force up to 25 pounds occasionally and anegligible amount of force frequently or constantly moving objects. Work requires sitting,standing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and repetitive motions, vocal communicationis required. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Localtravel is required. OSHA high risk position.EOE/M/F/V/D
