SUMMARY

The Float Pool RN performs therapeutic nursing interventions and manages the care of patients with conditions common to the various units assigned, including but not limited to:

• General surgical patients, including outpatient surgicals • Medical patients, including infant to geriatric populations • Critically ill patients • Neurological patients • Renal patients • Oncology patients • Cardiovascular patients • Pediatric patients • Subacute and rehab patients • Altered mental status patients • Orthopedic patients • OBgyn patients, with the exception of labor and delivery or newborn nursery.

Orientation specific to general medicalsurgical floors, intensive care units, emergency department, motherbaby, and/or mental health areas will be provided based on areas the employee will be working. Additionally, float personnel working in the ICU and PCU areas will be required to complete modified ECCO curriculum, PCU hemodynamic monitoring, EKG monitoring, and ACLS.

STAFF REGISTERED NURSE (RN)

The Staff Registered Nurse RN is responsible for meeting patients priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing, and/or delegating care, and evaluating patients responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. The Staff RN contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including:

• Professional communication and documentation • Preceptoring and/or resourcing of others

The Staff RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Staff RN includes but is not limited to:

• Committing to the mission, vision, beliefs, and consistently demonstrating our core values • Initiating assessment and reassessment based on the patients presenting problems and needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers procedures • Synthesizing pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes and goals • Integrating appropriate standards of care into the patients plan of care based on the diagnosis and age-specific needs • Executing therapeutic and/or supportive interventions • Providing education for the patient and family to meet identified patient needs according to their needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness to learn • Evaluating the patients response to and effectiveness of interventions • Evaluating patients progress toward established outcomes • Incorporating cultural considerations into the plan of care and delivery of care • Including family or significant others in the care of the patient as appropriate • Documenting patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation • Providing care in conjunction with other members of the interdisciplinary team • Facilitating patients transition to the next level of care • Actively participating in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act • Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards and regulations • Basic Life Support CPR certification required • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse is recommended.
