The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is actively searching for a full-time Statewide ATV Trail Ranger to join our team!
Based out of our Headquarters Office in Boise, ID, the Statewide ATV Trail Ranger supports the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation's Motorized Trail Program by maintaining, constructing, and improving Idaho's extensive off-highway vehicle (OHV) trail network. In this position, you'll perform trail maintenance and construction in remote, rugged landscapes while supporting safe, sustainable, and accessible motorized recreation throughout the state. You'll work independently, and as part of a two-person trail crew, while coordinating with land managers, OHV clubs, and recreation partners to support the trail network.
Teaming up closely with our Recreation Program Specialist, you'll actively contribute to the planning and execution of trail projects, leaving an indelible impact on the recreational offerings throughout the state. Responsibilities include operating ATVs, trail-specific machinery, and heavy equipment; clearing brush and downed trees; installing and maintaining trail signage; implementing erosion control and drainage improvements; and conducting field assessments and trail inventories. During the winter months, your focus will shift to operating snow grooming and removal equipment, as needed. Nighttime operations are essential for ensuring trails are in optimal condition for daytime use, requiring careful navigation and precision in low-visibility conditions.
If you're passionate about the outdoors and ready to make a significant difference in preserving the natural splendor of Idaho's trail network, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.
Your journey starts here, where every trail leads to an adventure!
