Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Steel Fitter with 3+ years of experience in a fabrication shop environment. This is a 1st shift position, responsible for fitting and assembling structural steel components in accordance with shop drawings and project specifications. The ideal candidate takes pride in accuracy, productivity, and maintaining high safety standards.
Shift: 1st Shif
Key Responsibilities:
Fit and assemble structural steel components (beams, columns, plates, etc.) per blueprints and shop drawings
Lay out, position, and align materials for proper fit-up prior to welding
Read and interpret structural drawings, weld symbols, and specifications
Perform accurate measurements and ensure tight tolerances
Work closely with welders, shop leads, and production teams to meet deadlines
Inspect materials and fit-ups to ensure quality and structural integrity
Operate hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Identify and communicate any discrepancies or issues with materials or drawings
Follow all shop safety standards and procedures
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a structural steel fitter in a fabrication environment
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings
Solid understanding of steel fabrication processes and fit-up techniques
Proficient with measuring tools (tape measure, square, level, etc.)
Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment and meet production goals
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods
Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Working Conditions:
Fabrication shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and heavy equipment
Standing, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift
Overtime may be required based on workload
PPE required at all times
