Job Description Steel Service Center General Manager leads all daily operations, sales, and financial performance for a metal distribution and processing facility.
Key Responsibilities Operations & Logistics: Oversee warehousing, processing, shipping, receiving, and inventory accuracy to ensure on-time order fulfillment. Safety & Compliance: Drive a strong safety culture and maintain compliance with local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations. Financial Management: Manage location budgets, financial forecasting, cost controls, and EBITDA/profitability targets. Commercial Leadership: Partner with sales and customer service teams to set margin targets, execute growth strategies, and build client relationships. Team Development: Lead, mentor, and coach staff, including plant managers, sales leaders, and administrative personnel.
Requirements & Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.Experience: 8 to 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial distribution, or metal service center environment.Technical Skills: Strong data analysis capabilities, proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with ERP systems or warehouse software.Industry Knowledge: Understanding of ISO policies, quality control programs, and metal processing standards.
