    Sterile Processing Manager – Asheville, NC

    Employment Type: Full-Time
    Schedule: Evenings
    Typical Hours: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Hours May Vary Based on Department Needs)
    Compensation: $52,000 – $90,000/year
    Sign-On Bonus: Available on a Case-by-Case Basis
    Relocation Assistance: Starting at $5,000

    Overview

    A large tertiary and quaternary care hospital in Asheville is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Manager to oversee evening operations across a high-volume sterile processing department supporting complex surgical and procedural service lines.

    This leadership role supports perioperative and procedural operations across OR, CVOR, Endoscopy, Labor & Delivery, and ambulatory services while ensuring compliance with sterilization standards, infection prevention protocols, instrumentation workflows, and surgical services support operations.

    The ideal candidate has strong sterile processing leadership experience, understands high-volume surgical support environments, and can effectively lead large teams within fast-paced acute care settings.

    Department Overview

    • Approximately 80 FTEs
    • 7 Sterile Processing Team Leads
    • Supports:
      • Operating Room (OR)
      • CVOR
      • Endoscopy
      • Labor & Delivery
      • Inpatient procedural departments
      • Outpatient ambulatory clinics
    • Uses SPM Workflow system
    • High-volume surgical services environment within a major regional referral center

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in operational leadership of the Sterile Processing Department during evening operations
    • Support staffing coordination, workflow management, and department efficiency initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with sterilization standards, infection prevention protocols, and regulatory requirements
    • Collaborate with perioperative leadership, surgical teams, and procedural departments to maintain instrument availability and workflow continuity
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing staff education initiatives
    • Monitor department quality control programs and support process improvement activities
    • Assist with inventory oversight, instrumentation management, and equipment utilization
    • Promote operational efficiency and interdisciplinary coordination across procedural service lines
    • Support departmental performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience
    • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
    • CRCST, CSPDT, or equivalent sterile processing certification
    • Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, infection prevention, surgical instrumentation, and sterilization workflows
    • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume surgical support environments
    • Strong communication, supervisory, and operational leadership skills

    Preferred

    • Associate or Bachelor's degree
    • Previous leadership experience in large acute care hospitals
    • Surgery center leadership experience
    • Experience supporting CVOR and high-acuity surgical services
    • Familiarity with SPM Workflow systems
