POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Strategic Buyer Manufacturing Network, you will manage complex procurement activities for custom parts and services, working closely with suppliers, engineering, commercial teams, and internal supply chain partners. The role focuses on manufacturing procurement, supplier performance, material forecasting, and specialized purchasing requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure custom parts and services, with a focus on non-standard and non-recurring purchasing requirements.
- Manage part deactivation, reactivation, and obsolescence processes to meet customer and production needs.
- Support aftermarket quoting activities in collaboration with commercial teams.
- Coordinate producibility decisions for dormant parts, unidentified suppliers, and related procurement requirements.
- Manage supplier transitions, including supplier transfers, approval processes, production ramp-ups, and ramp-downs based on risk assessments.
- Handle technical procurement activities associated with ITAR-controlled and other restricted programs.
- Coordinate with Engineering to receive, validate, and communicate part specifications.
- Engage suppliers in tender preparation and align responsibilities for delivery.
- Collaborate on material forecasts and obtain supplier capacity commitments.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery commitments, and procurement activities to support manufacturing operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have hands-on manufacturing procurement experience and the ability to manage supplier relationships, complex purchasing requirements, and cross-functional supply chain activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university.
- At least 2 years of procurement or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, operations, or a combination of these functions.
- U.S. person status as defined by ITAR: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, political asylee, or refugee.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company-sponsored immigration support now or in the future.
- Current residence within the specified geographic area of the Irvine facility; candidates must reside within 50 miles of the facility. Active-duty military candidates are exempt from this restriction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain.
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments.
- Supplier performance management experience.
- Manufacturing procurement experience involving aerospace, automotive, electronics, mechanical components, or metals.
- Experience working within a large, global manufacturing organization.
We understand that even experienced procurement professionals may not have every preferred qualification. Candidates must, however, meet the core manufacturing procurement, education, work authorization, and location requirements.
