Strategic Marketing Manager, EMD (Energy, Medical, Consumer Products)

Location: Mason, Ohio (Cincinnati area) — onsite

We are looking for a Strategic Marketing Manager to drive thought leadership and market presence for SES's Energy, Medical Devices, and Consumer Products business unit. This role builds SES's technical credibility and visibility within the EMD verticals through published research, technical journal placements, and strategic industry association partnerships, while serving as the embedded marketing partner to the EMD BU leader. The role translates business goals into demand generation and positioning programs that support SES's Mission30 growth targets.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role. You'll set the EMD thought leadership and marketing strategy, then personally execute it, writing the pitch, building the campaign, designing the graphic. There is no team to delegate to.

Key Responsibilities

Thought Leadership & Industry Presence

• Build and execute a thought leadership strategy across Energy, Medical Devices, and Consumer Products, positioning SES engineers as recognized technical authorities
• Personally research, write, and pitch submissions to technical and trade journals relevant to each EMD sub-vertical
• Develop and maintain relationships with key industry associations (energy, medical device, and consumer products trade bodies), managing membership benefits, speaking opportunities, and co-marketing opportunities
• Coordinate conference and technical symposium participation, including abstract submissions, speaker prep, and booth/sponsorship strategy
• Write first drafts of technical articles, white papers, and bylines with SES subject matter experts

Marketing Strategy & Execution

• Partner directly with the EMD BU lead to align marketing programs with business unit revenue and growth goals
• Develop and execute vertical-specific go-to-market strategies across the three EMD sub-verticals
• Build and manage a content calendar (case studies, technical articles, LinkedIn content, webinars) tailored to each audience
• Build and launch EMD campaigns end-to-end in Microsoft Dynamics 365, strategy, setup, execution, and reporting
• Identify and implement AI-powered tools and workflows to improve marketing efficiency (content generation, campaign personalization, lead scoring, reporting automation)
• Design your own graphics, sales collateral, and campaign visuals in Adobe Illustrator
• Ensure all EMD marketing materials adhere to SES brand standards and messaging frameworks
• Represent marketing in EMD BU leadership meetings, providing visibility into pipeline impact and market intelligence

Qualifications

• 5+ years of B2B marketing experience, ideally in engineering, industrial, energy, or medical device sectors
• Demonstrated record of personally placing articles, securing bylines, or landing speaking slots, not just overseeing a program
• Experience managing industry association relationships or membership programs
• Comfortable operating without a support team, you write, design, and execute your own strategy day to day
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CRM/marketing modules)
• Working knowledge of AI tools and integrations for marketing use cases
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for design and content production
• Strong writer/editor, comfortable translating technical engineering work into publication-ready content
• Ability to manage multiple verticals/audiences simultaneously without losing focus
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Success Metrics

• Number and quality of technical journal/trade publication placements
• Industry association partnership growth and engagement (speaking slots, co-marketing, membership value)
• Pipeline contribution to EMD revenue targets
• Content output and engagement across Energy, Medical, and Consumer Products segments
