Come join a growing multidisciplinary team of engineers designing the next generation nuclear power plant. EGS seeking an experienced mechanical/civil/structural engineer/analyst for direct hire. ANSYS, LS-DYNA, SAP2000 and ETABS are amongst the most widely used codes in this department. Specialists in this department are engaged in performing stress analysis and strength qualification of various structures, systems and components (SSCs) in nuclear and solar power plants. The analyst would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced concrete, modular steel-concrete composite, and soil-subgrade supported structures
Positions are located in Camden, NJ and come with top competitive salaries, great benefits and relocation assistance is available. Must be US Citizen, Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen eligible to work under a TN Visa.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Execute and document analyses for a variety of structures, systems and components (SSCs)
Review available concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements, then develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analyses as permitted by project milestones
Support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings
Support development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear SSCs
TYPICAL ANALYSES
Static and dynamic finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYS
Drop and impact (e.g., missile and aircraft) analyses and target response using LS-DYNA
Simulation of the seismic response of freestanding structures in air or submerged in water
Static and dynamic analyses of large reinforced concrete or steel-concrete composite structures
Soil-structure interaction (SSI) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analyses
Beam and plate stress calculations using established principles of strength of materials
Minimum Technical Requirements:
Masters in Civil or Structural or Mechanical Engineering
In-depth knowledge of strength of materials and structural mechanics
Experience using commercial software such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ETABS, SAP2000, Plaxis 3D, and STAAD.Pro
Familiarity with industry standards and design codes such as ASME, ACI, ASCE and AISC
Excellent technical writing, interpersonal and effective communication skills
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
Experience in conducting seismic and impact-based dynamic analyses
Knowledge of geotechnical and geophysical engineering
Experience in modular design development of SSCs
Experience working with designers and manufacturers to develop models and drawings; knowledge of software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Tekla and Revit
Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities
