Structural Engineer
Contract-to-Hire Opportunity | Midwest & Northeast U.S. (Hybrid/Remote)
Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering and design team supporting complex industrial and infrastructure projects across the Midwest and Northeast regions of the United States. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering long-term career growth, technical leadership opportunities, and involvement in challenging, high-impact projects.
In this role, you will perform structural analysis and design, collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and contribute to the successful execution of projects from concept through construction documentation. The ideal candidate is a motivated engineering professional with strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural engineering analysis and design with minimal supervision
- Develop structural design concepts and support project execution from early design through final deliverables
- Conduct analysis and design of steel and concrete structures using applicable U.S. building codes and engineering standards
- Apply wind and seismic design principles in accordance with code requirements
- Coordinate closely with Structural Leads, Designers, and other engineering disciplines
- Prepare and review structural calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents
- Perform quality checks and calculation reviews of work completed by other engineers
- Support project scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting activities
- Identify and communicate scope changes or project risks to project leadership
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Contribute to improving workflows, engineering tools, and design processes
- Participate in occasional field walks and site assessments as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards including:
- Experience with structural engineering analysis and design software
- Proficiency with Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Experience designing traditional steel and concrete structures
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Experience leading small engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
- Structural Engineer (SE) License
- Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or manufacturing facility projects
- Experience with STAAD structural analysis software
