Structural Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering firm specializing in the design and construction of ductwork and structural support systems for power generation facilities worldwide.

This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work remotely. The company is actively growing and has supplier agreements in place supporting a strong project pipeline, with continued growth forecasted through 2031.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently, manage multiple projects, communicate effectively, and take ownership of deadlines and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer structural steel, ductwork, and support structures for power generation facilities
• Perform structural analysis and design in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements
• Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Utilize structural analysis software, preferably STAAD, for design and analysis
• Work with 3D models and AutoCAD to develop and review designs
• Coordinate with fabrication and installation teams to ensure designs are practical and constructible
• Apply value engineering principles to reduce project costs while maintaining safety and design requirements
• Work with international fabrication facilities and adapt designs to different standards, units, and project requirements
• Communicate regularly with project teams, customers, and other engineering professionals
• Support jobsite installation and address engineering questions or issues as needed
• Maintain project schedules and ensure engineering deliverables are completed on time
• Follow applicable OSHA, AISC, IBC, ASCE 7, and other project requirements

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–10 years of structural engineering experience
• Accredited degree in Structural, Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical Engineering
• PE license or currently on track to obtain licensure
• Strong structural steel design experience
• Strong knowledge of AISC, OSHA, IBC, and ASCE 7 requirements
• Experience with structural analysis and design software; STAAD preferred
• Experience with AutoCAD and 3D modeling
• Understanding of general construction and field installation practices
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other standard computer applications
• Ability to work with projects involving international fabrication and different measurement/design standards
• Strong safety awareness and sound engineering judgment

Work Environment

The company currently has approximately 20 employees, with the majority working remotely. The position offers a high degree of flexibility and autonomy. Employees are expected to manage their own schedules, meet deadlines, communicate consistently, and take initiative when additional effort is required to complete a project.

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting salary of $130,000+, depending on experience and skill level
