Structural Engineering Intern

Responsibilities:

Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a limited-term, full-time structural engineering intern position available to work on water resources projects from May/June 2027 through August 2027.

 

This position is with our Dams, Hydro, and Flood Risk Reduction business unit. The intern may have the opportunity to work on project types such as concrete rehabilitation, pump station design, inlet and outlet structure design, stability analysis, retaining wall design, and more.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting engineers and design technicians with structural and civil engineering tasks related to water resources projects, such as:
• • Preparing design calculations and cost estimates
  • Compiling, organizing, and analyzing project data
  • Drafting technical reports
  • Assisting with the preparation of construction documents
  • Reviewing shop drawings and assisting with responses to requests for information
• Accompanying engineers on project site visits
• Other tasks as assigned

 

A valid driver’s license, the ability to pass a background check, and occasional travel will be required.

 

Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters (4 semesters preferred) of college-level coursework in civil, structural, or architectural engineering, or a closely related field.

 

The ideal candidate will have any combination of the following:

• Structural or civil engineering coursework
• Microsoft Office software experience
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D
• Experience with structural design software, such as RISA, ENERCALC, or similar programs
• Previous relevant internship experience

Salary Range: $20.00 to $25.00 hourly; actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
